Dean's Gear Page

Heres a list of Dean's Gear he is currently using in the studio, and for live performances. Dean prefers all analog devices as apposed to digitally enhanced effects or emulators.

"Over the years - I've tried many different Guitar, Amp & Effect combinations, finding that the best sounding rigs  were the simplest! Amp simulators and digital effects are great for practicing at low volumes, but remember that all those extra effects will hide your mistakes. Practicing with little to no effects (just use a basic overdrive and a bit of reverb) will keep  you chops right on target!"

1980's Laney Pro Tube Lead AoR 100w Head

"The tone from these heads is like taking a vintage Marshall JMP and injecting it with Steroids! This head along with my FXDr. Modded YJM 308 pedal give me the tone I need!"

From left to right - DOD YJM, Reissue DOD Overdrive Preamp, and  FX Dr Overdrive Preamp .

The FX Doctor Overdrive 250 was built for Dean to the exact specs (including correct components) as the original Dod 250 Grey Pedals. (Note: FX Dr. mods have been performed to the YJM and the Reissue overdrive Preamp 250 to greatly enhance their tone also!

Marshall JCM 2000 Triple lead TSL 60.

This all tube amp is used primarily for studio recordings. 3rd Channel on this baby coupled with the grey DOD will bring your leads crying  to the depths of HELL! Direct out recording does use a digital modeler that sounds pretty damn good, but I tend to just mic it with a Sure SM57.
