Yngwie
The Duck - Play Loud Replica Strat #2

 Featured Project

Yngwie is one of the most influential guitarist of the 20th century. In the early 80's he practically invented the Neo-Classical metal style of guitar.

Yngwie is a true guitar genius and we thank him for the incredible gift  he has given to modern music. As Yngwie would say "PLAY LOUD"

This guitar (second of the series) is being built right here at Randyciak.com to honor the Master shredder and his amazing  style.

Tune in each week as we build this
amazing replica guitar online at
randyciak.com!

Donor guitar: Fender 70's Olympic
White Stratocaster reissue
purchased from Musicians Friend for
$679.00. This is the perfect donor
since it has the large headstock,
bullet truss rod, maple neck, and
vintage  pickup routing for ToNE!.

Guitar is disassembled and the
maple neck fret board hand scalloping begins. This process is very time consuming.

Rough Scalloping is almost complete
Frets will be crowned and leveled when the neck scalloping and fretboard finishing is
done.

The final sanding process
prior to finish is started. We will be
 using 220,320, 400 and
600 grit dry sand paper, to prep
the wood for nitro.

sanding continues - look at the grain thats poking through - gorgeous!!! Close up of some sweet scallops -
A neoclassical shredders dream!!

Next the Olympic white body is
prepped and painted with
Nitrocellulose Vintage Cream
Lacquer

Body is dry and ready for color
sanding. We will remove all the orange peel off the color coat prior to
clear coating this 3bolt
vintage routed beauty!!
Neck has been finished in Nitro.
Brass nut still needs to be installed
(backordered) . The fret crowing process
will now begin to take any imperfections
out after the scalloping process. This
will also clean off any nitro that stuck to
the frets

The guitar is starting to transform.
Clear coat is dry and ready for wet
sanding and polishing.

Wet sanding is complete of neck and
body. Neck is fit to body  along
with some of the vintage hardware- Neck pocket is a perfect tight fit!
Play loud sticker is added after the hand polishing was completed.

Ground wire is soldered to the 250k
volume pot - this will extend through the body
and be soldered on the trem claw.

Aged pickup covers and knobs are
installed. There's just something
about yellowed pickup covers
and knobs that make me
go CRAZY!

Pick guard and Electronic assy installed - next we will give this axe a bit of light wear to areas where the strap and body rubs  - we want this strat to have a broken in used feel. Ferrarri Stickers are placed in Yngwie's
favorite spot  - Check out the trem block -
can you say tone??? Trem cover will
not be installed - just like the Master
Shredder main axe!

Duck Alert - Duck Alert! Donald
sticker is added to headstock. Guitar
strap selected for this project
cry's reminiscence of the Trilogy
Album! Still waiting for the brass nut!

Brass nut arrived - Time to pop
out the original Fender plastic
one - careful!
Cleaning out the glue and opening
the pocket a bit to fit the new nut in -
This type of nut is used by
the Master Shredder to
squeeze a bit more sustain out!

Test Fitting her - After getting her
perfect, we will glue her in!

All stung up with 9's- string height set and saddles intonated (Yngwie uses a hybrid set of 8's - were waiting for these to be released to the market!! Check out those scallops!!!! Finally our batch of  authentic 70's
Donald Duck stickers arrived
so we decided to remove the one
we installed earlier and get it right!

Birth of an Amazing replica The duck lives!!
