Fender 1976 Stratocaster

Large Headstocks and the smooth body contours of 70's Vintage Strats
are so cool. There is something about the Sonics that blast from a
vintage Stratocaster that is so unique. It wasn't a coincidence that
Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, and Yngwie Malmsteen used these Large headstock
CBS guitars as there primary weapon of choice.

Here at Randyciak.com we will be showcasing the rebirth of
this cool Strat - We will be doing a complete refinish and relic job on the
body, restoring this beautiful sounding instrument to feel like a well broken in old friend.

    Guitar arrived with a terrible
80's spray bomb finish attempt
that was flaking off!. Neck was in beautiful
original condition -with a nice vintage amber look, brass nut, & a cool cigarette burn on the headstock. Guitar played amazing and was
ready for its REBIRTH!
Body was is fair shape with no body routes.
Cheapo - Kmart paint job was flaking off exposing the
poly / nitro original Fender Finish. We will age the finished body
to create a beautiful 70's worn Stratocaster that not only looks and sounds amazing, but feels broken in, like an
old friend!

  Guitar has been completely disassembled
and paint stripper applied.
Stripper is moved around to eat the entire spray bomb finish.

Body is completely stripped down to the
original 70's poly/nitro finish. If the Red Cheapo
paint didn't bleed into the original finish
& grain, we could have kept her Natural...so...
Body is sanded with 600 grit
paper, cleaned and sprayed with
nitro wood sealer

Sealer dried, and sanded with 600
grit paper -then white nitro primer is applied.
The nitro will harness the tonal characteristics of
the wood and when finished, this
guitar will cry like a Vintage Fender
Stratocaster should!!
Primer is dried and wet sanded with
600 grit paper - first 3 sets of Sonic
Blue lacquer coats are applied over
the course of the next 3 days.
Clear coat is then sprayed in the
same fashion & the wet sanded to
2500 grit.

  Vintage Tremolo is installed
with the cool original rusted screws
Rusted springs, and original 70's claw complete the
installation - Check out the reliced back of this baby!!!

3-bolt neck is installed - the aging on this baby is mild, but it will give this Strat a great "broken in"
appearence and feel
Maple Neck looks gorgeous on this baby! We
cant wait to string her up and jam!!!

Light relicing will give this amazing axe
some vintage vibe! Notice the white primer peeking
through!! She's coming together nicely!!!
The headstock is naturally aged - Fender painted the Headstocks
of the 70's Strats with nitro - The finish is checking and turning a nice dark amber. Next is to wire up the electronics.

Next we will replace a few of the
noisy pots and complete the wiring.
Pick guard is fastened down with
original rusted screws after the wiring is completed
Original 70's knobs and pickup covers are installed
Wow - she looks sweet !

The making of a relic strat.......WOW Pick guard is aged and guitar is strung up
She plays like a Dream!
